What does an air filter actually do? How often should they be changed?

Follow the maker%26#039;s maintenance schedule - can%26#039;t go wrong doing so. If you should operate your vehicle in unusual situation (sandstorm, etc.) change the filters ASAP.

Cleans the air going into the engine. They should be changed every other oil change, unless you dive in a lot of dusty conditions, then every oil change. If you drive around with a dirty or clogged filter you wont be getting enough air to the motor. This will result in poor fuel mileage. And later on down the road more costly problems.

Your air filter needs to be changed every 12,000 miles or

sooner if you drive in dusty conditions.
Reply:Ask about synthetic motor oil , cost more , does more , as for the air filter, buy a K %26amp; N air filter they are great , just rinse with water and put back. Last for the life of your car. An ounce of prevent ... Great protection for baby
Reply:An air filter removes the dirt and dust that would otherwise

get sucked into your engine if it never had one.Dirt and Dust

are not good for an engine and constant exposure without the

filter will lead to engine failure eventually.

There are 2 types of air filters on the market. There is the

standard type you can get from car accessory shops or

the performance ones. The standard ones are throw away

after a certain mileage {consult owners manual) The

performance ones are washable but need to be re oiled

using the correct oil but will last for many years and increase

the performance of your car by 2-10 horse power depending

on what you drive.
Reply:Cleans the air going into the Engine! Check Every Oil Change, Change every 4 to 8 months depending on the conditions in your area and how dirty the filter gets. Mine here in Davao, Toyota HiLux 4X4, twice a Year.
